There's zena, the peaceful CMS: http://zenadmin.org

It's got some very advanced topics built right into the core:

- versions
- multi-lingual
- zafu templating language (video: http://vimeo.com/1891655)
- group based access rights
- image processing
- etc

There are several really simple systems written in Sinatra. Check out Marley, the code for toolmantim.com on github, and Nesta (a project I started) at http://effectif.com/nesta.

Cripes is CMS popular or what! A friend of mine is killing his open source CMS project because of too may 'rivals': http://www.kriscargile.com/2008/11/15/dotnetcrm-coup-de-grace/

It is great see people like you support open source, too many people in this world are out for themselves and no-one else. Personally I love getting emails from fellow geeks who used my code samples in their larger projects - a reward much better than $$.
